Armour in Terraria
Armour is essential to survival in your Terraria Server, so finding the best gear for your class should be a top priority! There are three main ways to get armour: crafting, buying from NPCs, or defeating bosses and enemies. Each piece of armour has a defence stat that reduces damage taken, so the higher the defence, the better.
Melee fighters:
Some of the best crafted armours are Hellstone, Molten, and Adamantite. Once you've beaten some bosses, you can get Turtle armour which gives a thorns effect, or Beetle armour which enhances melee damage and speed. The ultimate melee armour is the Luminite set, granting massive defence and melee boosts.
Mages:
Should aim for Meteor, Jungle, and Forbidden armour sets early on. After beating Plantera, you can get Spectre armour which gives lifesteal or provides magic damage and critical strike boosts. The endgame Nebula armour maximises magic damage and reduces mana usage.
Rangers:
Will want Necro, Frost, and Chlorophyte armour. Shroomite armour from the Truffle NPC enhances ranged damage and stealth. Vortex armour from the Lunar Eventsrainbow is the best endgame option, massively boosting ranged damage, speed and critical strike chance.
Summoners:
Bee, Spider and Tiki armour are good starts. Spooky armour from the Pumpkin Moon event and Stardust armour from the Lunar Events provide major summoning boosts and additional minion slots.

As a summoner, your minions will do most of the fighting for you. Your role is to dodge enemies and stay alive! The key is kiting - running away from enemies while your minions attack them. With good movement accessories like Wings and Lightning Boots, you can easily outmanoeuvre most foes. Focus on dodging and your minions will shred through enemies. Jungle Power
The jungle biome contains some of the best early-game armour. As soon as you enter Hardmode, smash some Demon Altars and mine Cobalt/Palladium. Craft a pickaxe and head to the underground jungle. Mine Chlorophyte and craft a full set of Chlorophyte armour. This will make Skeletron and The Destroyer much easier to defeat. With the mining boost from Chlorophyte gear, collecting enough Adamantite/Titanium for the next tier of armour is a snap!
Extra Defence
In Expert Mode, every point of defence counts. Reforge your accessories to Warding for +4 defence each. Craft the Counterweight, Star Veil and Charm of Myths - they provide damage reduction and extra health regeneration. Equip the Cobalt Shield or Obsidian Shield for knockback immunity and an extra +2 defence.
