Join Courtney Brown for a lively conversation led by female founders of law firms in the SF Bay Area as they discuss what it means to be a female law firm owner and leader, and how gender and race impact the way they lead, market, and manage their teams. Register here: https://bit.ly/3uFmFtGWomen make up a majority of law school students in the United States: 55.3% in 2021. That’s up from 48.4% in 2000. However, women also held only a small percentage of law firm leadership jobs in 2020. They were 12% of managing partners, 28% of governance committee members, and 27% of practice group leaders, according to the NAWL.

Yesterday I had the great pleasure of facilitating a discussion with a group of women lawyers from all over the US, and even one UK-based lawyer. We talked, essentially, about how things are going. As everyone was sharing their concerns and strategies, I noticed how much commonality there was, regardless of life stage or career path. Everyone is stressed right now, with levels ranging from “this is hard” to “how am I going to get through?”Thank you to everyone who attended and participated so openly and honestly. As one attendee told me afterwards, “It was wonderful to be part of a community for that hour.”We often say that women in our attorney masterminds come for the content (building the career and life they want — even if they start off not knowing what that is) and stay for the community. If you’re at a point in your legal career where you are ready for outside support —whether 1:1 coaching or in our small group attorney masterminds — schedule a confidential conversation at aposignup.com/wellAnd if you feel like you’re struggling with ALL. THE. THINGS., know you aren’t alone — your community is out there, and you just have to find it and then seize the chance to join it.📷: Some of the members of the 2023 Future in Focus Accelerators group meeting in Austin in the fall: Melissa Pina, Liz Winiarski, Lydia Keaney Reynolds, Sarah Miller, Stephanie Cueman, Sarah Grimm, Julie Baker, and Katy Eldridge.
